What a year so far, wouldn’t you agree? The huge changes brought about by the Corona virus and the stock market decline are definitely being reflected in astrology through the planet’s configurations or patterns.
We are in a time ruled by Pluto, the planet of transformation and in the sign of reaping what we have sown. For 13 years, Pluto has been in the sign of Capricorn. Capricorn is about reaping what has been cultivated and ultimately bringing things into balance
Pluto represents the underworld, bringing up what has been hiding below the surface as well as paying off debt for our ancestors. It gives us the chance to get it right, a do-over. It is a time of remodeling. Pluto brings extremes. It is also the energy that represents the transformation of a caterpillar to a butterfly. It is going into the cave (do you remember Luke in the Star Wars Series? He had to into the cave to face his greatest fear). Pluto let us think we will get away with things that are not righteous and at the very end says “Oh, no you don’t”!
As a society, we are in the “oh no you don’t” stage of our Plutonian journey. This metamorphous is a lifestyle change. Pluto can be ruthless but at the same time sets in motion a life of honesty and ultimately, freedom.
How? Pluto makes us take stock of what is important and brings simplicity into our lives. Pluto makes us do with less. No more covering up! We can feel as if we are standing naked, vulnerable and exposed.
So what can we do as a society? We can look a closer look at ourselves, our behavior and ask ourselves a few questions. What patterns or ways of thinking do we have that are outdated and need to be discarded? Patterns that may have worked in our lives at one time but are no longer beneficial.
What ideas or habits have been good but now need to be reassessed and done again in a new way?
Is there a new and exciting way to live? This is our time to discover the value of simplicity. This is the time we can find joy and happiness in ways we could not have imagined!
Will we go back to the way we were after all this? Not really. This is a change similar to being single, footloose and fancy free then getting married and having a family! Or being in a terrible relationship and finding yourself free from fear!
In both examples, lifestyle change has occurred. We have to pick up the pieces and slowly begin adjusting to new ways. Do we have to do this all in one day? No, it is a time to be gentle with ourselves and implement one thing at a time.
The word is transformation! As many of my clients know, I love etymology, the origin of a word. Transform comes from the Latin and old French meaning “to change in shape.”
So, what can possibly come out of this period of time?
We can look to how we can become greater human beings. Not because we are not great now, but because we can become even greater! Pluto is about evolution! Evolve means “to unroll, open out, expand”!
Haven’t you notice the virtues manifesting around us and through us? Compassion, kindness, love, discernment, courage and most of all, gratitude. They all are emerging from within each of us naturally! Will it leave us after this crisis is over? No. We are assimilating these virtues and they are embedding themselves in our daily life!
Pluto is going to transform society with or without our blessing. Ultimately, this cleanse will be beneficial.
Mother Earth is being renewed. We are being renewed!
We can see the best of what can come out of this. We can, at the same time use the virtue of discernment to protect ourselves.
Will this end? Of course. A woman said to Mark Twain when he was coming out of Church, “Do you think this rain will ever end?” His reply was, “It always does, my dear!”
